We are seeking an experienced Data Center Construction Manager to oversee the execution of a large-scale data center construction project (2 years) in Ashburn, VA. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day construction activities, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining schedule and budget discipline, and ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who has managed mission-critical facilities and understands the pace, complexity, and rigor of data center builds.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site construction lead for data center projects, from mobilization through close-out
  • Manage general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors across multiple trades (civil, structural, MEP, low voltage)
  • Own the construction schedule and coordinate sequencing to protect the critical path
  • Conduct daily site walks, safety briefings, and progress reviews
  • Enforce safety standards, quality control, and compliance with local codes and project specifications
  • Coordinate closely with design teams, commissioning agents, and client representatives
  • Review and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch lists
  • Monitor budget, approve invoices, and manage cost controls at the site level
  • Document progress through daily reports, photos, and issue tracking
  • Support turnover, commissioning readiness, and final acceptance activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of construction management experience, with direct data center or mission-critical facility experience
  • Proven experience managing MEP-heavy projects (electrical, mechanical, cooling, backup power)
  • Strong understanding of data center construction workflows, commissioning requirements, and redundancy concepts
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA)
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Proficiency with construction management tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, Bluebeam)
  • Ability to work on-site full time in Ashburn, VA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center builds
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and integrated systems testing (IST)
  • Background working with owners, developers, or large GC teams in Northern Virginia
  • Relevant certifications (PMP, CCM, OSHA 30)
